New Era Canning Company Announces Recall of Vegetable Products in #10 cans (6 to 7 pound cans)
New Era Canning Company of New Era, Michigan is recalling all cans of vegetable products in #10 cans (large cans containing between 6 and 7 pounds) on the list below because they may have been processed under conditions which could have led to contamination by Clostridium botulinum bacterium spores, which can cause life-threatening illness or death.
While the UPC on the can label may be helpful in determining whether the product might be under recall, customers will need to also examine the lot code information on the can end to determine whether the can is subject to recall, as some distributors may purchase these products from more than one supplier. The UPC and lot code information has been included on the product list for each product under recall to make the identification of any recalled products easier.
This recall only affects the products in the large #10 cans, the majority of which were potentially sold nationwide to various food service customers. However these products may also have been purchased by consumers at retail stores. The code on the cans may be embossed (stamped into the metal of the can) or printed in ink on one of the metal can ends and the first set of numbers or letters in the code may be used to identify whether the product was canned by New Era Canning. We have been alerted that some of our cans may be missing the can codes. Any cans of these products without a code should not be opened or used and assumed to be under the recall.
Examples of how a lot code may appear on a can of Green Beans, Italian Cut are: "00249 2BH7FL", "00249 1515 2BH7FL", "ITAL 2BH7FL" or "ITAL 1515 2BH7FL". (These are not necessarily actual can codes). New Era Canning Company Expands Nationwide Recall
New Era Canning Company, New Era, Mich., is broadening its nationwide recall of canned vegetable products for a third time because of the potential for its foods to be contaminated with Clostridium botulinum (C. botulinum).
Consumers who have the affected products, or who have used them in recipes, should immediately throw the cans and food away.
The potentially contaminated products are marketed under ten different brand names:
Processors other than New Era may be packing these brands. Only products packed by New Era are subject to the recall.
Choyce Products Recalls Yellowfin Tuna Due to Possible Health Risk
Choyce Products of Honolulu, Hawaii is recalling 5,452 pounds of frozen Yellowfin Tuna because it has the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella.
The frozen Yellowfin tuna was distributed on Oahu and most likely reached consumers in the form of a mixed, previously frozen, seafood product through its customers. Choyce Products received the tuna from a mainland importer who confirmed the tuna was sent from Indonesia.
Choyce Products' customers received the cubed tuna in frozen form. The frozen product is packaged in labeled white cardboard shipping boxes containing 22 pounds of product. These boxes each contain 11 2-pound packages of vacuum-packed product in unlabeled plastic bags. White stickers on the cardboard shipping boxes have the following code information:
Consumers can call 808-839-1502 if they have concerns or questions about tuna-containing products they have consumed.
Those Choyce Products customer who suspect they may have this product should keep it in their possession and call 808-839-1502 with the label information. Should the tuna be from the parcel in question, it will be retrieved and destroyed by Choyce Products and a refund will be issued.
Annie's Naturals Issues Nationwide Recall on Undeclared Soy in 8 fl oz. All-Natural Shiitake & Sesame Vinaigrette
Annie's Naturals is recalling 686 cases of 8 fl oz. bottles of all-natural Shiitake & Sesame Vinaigrette. The product could be mislabeled and may contain soy sauce (contains soy and wheat) and sesame that were not declared on the ingredient statement.
Affected product was shipped to grocery and natural food stores in California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina and Washington, between December 20, 2007 and February 6, 2008.
Consumers can most easily identify impacted product by looking at the product labels – the front label says Shiitake & Sesame Vinaigrette, but the back label and ingredient statement say Low Fat Honey Mustard Vinaigrette. Only dressings with UPC # 0-92325-33319-2 with a Best By Date of 02/20/09/1/E and 02/20/09/2/E are affected.
Organic Shiitake & Sesame Vinaigrette, 16 oz. bottles of Shiitake & Sesame Vinaigrette, and other Annie's Naturals products are not affected by this recall.

Chino, Calif., establishment, is
recalling approximately 143,383,823 pounds
of raw and frozen beef products that has been
determined to be unfit for human food
because the cattle did not receive complete and proper inspection.
This noncompliant activity occurred
occasionally over the past two years and therefore all beef product
produced during the period of time for
which evidence indicates such activity occurred has been determined
to be unfit for human consumption, and is,
therefore, adulterated.
The products subject to this recall were
sent to wholesale distributors nationwide in bulk packages and
are not available for direct purchase by
consumers. All products subject to recall bear the establishment number

Pierre’s Ice Cream Company Issues Recall on Homestyle Brand of Dutch Chocolate Ice Cream
Pierre’s Ice Cream Company is recalling its Pierre’s Homestyle Dutch Chocolate Ice Cream (purple 56 fl oz package) because it may contain undeclared peanut butter cup candies. The containers are identified with the code 07320 which is printed on the rim of the lid.
This ice cream was distributed in Ohio, Michigan, Western Pennsylvania, and Indiana and reached consumers through retail stores. The packaging does not reveal the presence of peanut butter candy or peanuts on the ingredient label.
If consumers have a Dutch Chocolate 56 fl oz (purple package) with the code 07320 on the rim of the lid, they should discard the ice cream and send the lid of the empty container back to Pierre’s for a full refund:

Mayfield Dairy Farms is recalling half-gallon rectangular paper cartons of Mayfield Vanilla Classic Ice Cream with a code date of 01/30/09 and a Universal Product Code (UPC) number of 75243 20144. The recall was initiated because the affected product contains pecans, which are not listed on the label.
