Purity Dairies Announces Ice Cream Recall

 

   Purity Dairies, Incorporated announced today that it is voluntarily recalling all cartons of Premium Purity Ice Cream "Moose Tracks" and Premium Purity Ice Cream "After Dinner Mint." The recall was initiated because the products contain egg yolk, which is not listed on the label.

 

The recalled ice cream was processed at the Purity Dairies plant in Nashville and distributed to retailers in portions of Tennessee , Kentucky and Alabama.

 

How to identify the recalled product:

 

"Moose Tracks" is packaged in pint, half-gallon and 3-gallon containers. "After Dinner Mint" is packaged in only half-gallon containers.

 

Purity Dairies' employees and retailers are removing the products from store shelves. Consumers can return the products to their place of purchase for a full refund.

Safeway Inc. Issues Allergy Alert on Undeclared Peanuts in Lucerne Chocolate Ice Cream

 

 Safeway’s Seattle Division is recalling ˝ gallon size Lucerne Chocolate Ice Cream, because it may contain undeclared peanuts.

 

The recalled Lucerne Chocolate Ice Cream was distributed to less than 85 Safeway stores in Washington, Idaho, Montana, Alaska and the city of Milton Freewater, Oregon between April 16 and April 27, 2004.

 

The recalled Lucerne Chocolate Ice Cream has a 21130-08039 UPC number and a Best Before JAN 10 05 53-38 date. The code and date are located on the carton’s end flap. The impacted product will contain chocolate covered peanut clusters.

 

Consumers who have purchased a 1/2 gallon square carton package of Lucerne Chocolate Ice Cream bearing the above code and date, may return the package to their local store for a full refund.

Stonington Sea Products Recalls Smoked Salmon Because of Possible Health Risk

 

Stonington Sea Products of Stonington, ME is recalling a small, seventy pound batch of Cold Smoked Salmon, packaged in retail packages of 4 oz., 8 oz., 12 oz., and bulk in Sliced and Unsliced Sides with sell by dates of 5/8/2004, because it has the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems.

 

Cold Smoked Salmon was distributed to three retail stores, one each in Maine, Massachusetts and New York. It was also distributed to three restaurants and via mail order to four customers. All customers have been notified and no illnesses have been reported to date.

 

The product is in plastic cryovac bags with the Stonington Sea Products label.

Paramount Farms Announces Nationwide Recall of Whole Natural Raw Almonds

 

Paramount Farms announced that it is voluntarily recalling from distribution whole natural raw almonds sold under the Kirkland Signature, Trader Joe’s and Sunkist brands. The almonds sold under the Kirkland Signature brand, available exclusively at Costco Wholesale Inc., were marked “raw almonds” and were packaged in three-pound, lay-flat plastic bags stamped with a “best before” date from 8/21/04 through 2/8/05. For Trader Joe’s and Sunkist, the packages bear the “best before” dates of 8/21/04 through 3/15/05. The almonds sold by Trader Joe’s are in a one-pound lay-flat plastic bag marked “nonpareil variety raw almonds” and the almonds sold by Sunkist are in a 10-ounce lay-flat plastic bag marked “raw natural whole almonds.”

 

Consumers who purchased products with these best buy dates should return them to their local point of purchase for a full refund. Beginning Wednesday, May 19 at approximately noon PDT, consumers who have questions about the recall may call Paramount Farms toll free hotline at 800-496-5168.

 

 

Recall of Certain Germack Brand Almonds Due to Potential Contamination

 

Germack Almond brand raw whole almonds are being voluntarily recalled by the Germack Pistachio Co. of Detroit, Michigan due to the possibility of contamination with Salmonella Enteritidis. The product is packaged in one pound packages that bear the Germack Pistachio Co. label, with code dates of 040806, 040807, 040819, 040824, 050105, 050421 and 050422.

 

Germack Pistachio Co. distributes this product in Michigan, Illinois, Ohio, Connecticut, and Florida.

 

This recall is in response to a voluntary recall by Paramount Farms of California on Whole Brown Natural Raw Almonds based on over 20 possible cases of illness in Alaska, Arizona, Oregon, Washington and Utah, as well as one case in Michigan.

Thrift Products Co. Recalls Thrifty Nuts Due to the Possibility of Contamination with Salmonella Enteriditis

 

Thrift Products Co., 41-44 th St., SE, Grand Rapids, Mi 49548 is conducting a voluntary recall on its distribution of raw whole and diced almonds packaged as Thrifty Nuts due to the possibility of contamination with Salmonella Enteriditis. The recall covers the following products: RAW WHOLE ALMONDS in a 3oz bag, UPC code 79348-11960 and ALMOND BITS in a 3oz bag, UPC code 79348-11955. Both of these items have a “best if used by date” of 03/05.

Alert on Additional Recalled Stocks of Paramount Farms Raw Almonds

A recall of raw almonds due to reports of Salmonella Enteriditis that was announced by Paramount Farms, Lost Hills, CA, on 5/18/04 has been expanded. Before eating any raw almonds having a "best before" date of 8/21/04 or later, consumers are advised to check with the store where they purchased the product to see if the almonds came from Paramount Farms. Paramount Farms distributed the recalled almonds in bulk or packaged nationwide to brokers, distributors and grocery store chains which in turn sold the almonds to consumers in a variety of package sizes with a variety brand names. The almonds were also distributed to Mexico, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Malaysia, France, England and Italy.

 

Paramount Farms announced a limited recall on 5/18/04 of whole natural raw almonds sold under the Kirkland Signature, Trader Joe's and Sunkist brands. Individuals who have purchased the recalled raw almonds should not consume them but instead return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.

 

The almonds may be sold under other unknown brand names.

Rio Grande Food Products, Inc. of Beltsville, Maryland is recalling Queso Duro Viejo / Hard Cheese, Made in Central America, because it has the possibility of being contaminated with Salmonella, an organism that can cause serious and sometimes-fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems.

 

The cheese products were distributed in MD, VA, District of Columbia, NC, GA, NY, NJ, TX, CA, MN and AL, and were repacked for distribution nationwide to retail stores and deli counters.

 

The cheese was sold in blocks ranging from 40 to 85 pounds under the brand RIO GRANDE with the UPC 7 3852907012 3. The cheese was also repackaged in one pound consumer packages and wrapped in plastic stretch film under the brands:
