K.L.Y. Trading Company, Inc. Recalls "Dried Sesame Seeds," Dried Red Pepper" and "Dried Mung Beans" Because of Possible Health Risk

 

K.L.Y. Trading Co., Inc. of San Francisco, California, is recalling the following products because they may be contaminated with Salmonella:

"Dried Sesame Seeds" Net Wt: 14 oz.
"Dried Red Pepper" Net Wt: 2 oz.
"Dried Mung Beans" Net Wt: 14 oz.

 

These products come in a clear plastic bag. The firm's logo displays two red fish holding a yellow coin and the firm's name and address appear on the front of the plastic bag. Product sold after March 30, 2004, is being recalled.

 

The contamination was identified when routine testing conducted by the California Department of Health Services (DDHS) revealed the presence of Salmonella in a sample of "K.L.Y. Trading Company, Inc. brand Dried Sesame Seeds."

 

The recalled K.L.Y. Trading Company product was sold in supermarkets throughout Northern California.

The company is asking supermarkets to discontinue distribution of this product and to promptly return the product and stock on hand to the company for credit. Consumers should not consume this product and return this product to the point of purchase for a refund.

Roxy Trading Inc., Recalls "Roxy Brand White Sesame Seeds" Because of Possible Health Risk

 

Roxy Trading Inc., of Azusa, California, is recalling the following product because it may be contaminated with Salmonella: “Roxy Brand White Sesame Seeds”

 

This product comes in a 4 oz clear plastic bag with Chinese wording and Roxy logo. The package is red, gold and white and approximately 7”x5” in size with the bar code number, 051299 120320. The firm’s name and address appears on the back of the plastic bag. Product sold after June 26, 2004, is being recalled.

 

The contamination was identified when routine testing conducted by the California Department of Health Services (CDHS) revealed the presence of salmonella in a sample of “Roxy Brand White Sesame Seeds.”

The recalled Roxy Brand product was sold in supermarkets throughout California.

 

The company is asking supermarkets to discontinue distribution of this product and to promptly return the product and stock on hand to the company for credit. Consumers should not consume this product and return this product to the point of purchase for a refund.

FDA Alerts Consumers That Certain Healthy Way Brand Sprouted Grain Bread Products May Contain Stone Pieces

 

Based on reports from the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA), the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is warning consumers that certain Healthy Way brand name sprouted grain bread products may contain small pieces of stone that could cause injuries. The products are manufactured by Olafson's Baking Company of Annacis Island , British Columbia, Canada, and are distributed through retail outlets in the states of Washington and Oregon.

 

The following Healthy Way brand Sprouted Grain bread products are affected by this alert. The date code can be found on the Quik Lock plastic closure on the package.

Murray International Trading, Inc., 908 Dean Street, Brooklyn, N.Y. 11238 is recalling Wing Shing Dried Lily Flower because it may contain undeclared sulfites.

 

The recalled Wing Shing Dried Lily Flower was sold in a clear, uncoded, 6oz plastic package and is a product of China. The product was sold throughout New York State.

Neighbors Coffee of Oklahoma City, OK, is recalling all whole bean coffees produced with nuts as an ingredient. The hazelnuts, almonds, peanuts, and/or pecans were undeclared ingredients used in all nut-flavored, whole bean coffees packed in 8 ounce, 1 pound, and 5 pound bags.

The whole bean, nut-flavored coffees in 8 ounce and larger packages include the following flavors produced 2-12-04 through 8-12-04. the 5 pound bags are marked with lot numbers 0434-2254 on the front, bottom center of the package. The 8 ounce and 1 pound packages do not bear a lot code.

Neighbors Coffee Expands Coffee Allergy Alert to Include Undeclared Almonds in Tea

 

Neighbors Coffee of Oklahoma City, OK, announced a recall of 25 flavors of whole bean, nut flavored coffees that contain undeclared peanuts, hazelnuts, almonds, and/or pecans. Recalled coffee includes Caffeinated, European Decaffeinated, and Swiss Water Decaffeinated whole bean, nut flavored coffees in 8 oz, 12 oz, 1 lb., and 5 lb. packaging. Neighbors Coffee announces today the expansion of this recall to include 2 lb. bulk packages of caffeinated and decaffeinated Amaretto Tea and Cherry Almond Tea because the teas contain undeclared almonds.

 

Recalled teas were sold nationwide in bulk bins at retail stores. Recalled teas were also sold by mail order, Internet, and telephone orders. The Amaretto Tea and Cherry Almond Tea were produced from 2-12-04 through 8-12-04. Both teas, packaged in 2 pound bags, are marked with lot numbers 0434 through 2254 on the front, bottom center of the package.

 

Consumers with allergies to almonds who have purchased Amaretto or Cherry Almond bulk tea are urged to return them to the place of purchase for an exchange or full refund.
