Publix Issues Voluntary Recall on Drinking Water

Publix Super Markets is issuing a voluntary recall on Publix 1-gallon (3.78L) and 2.5-gallon (9.45L) drinking water with the manufacturing plant code PLT 12595 and the following code dates:

1 gallon: PDR May 02, 2005 and PDR May 04, 2005 ( the code can be found on the back of the container).

2.5-gallon: PDR APR 27, 2005 and PDR May 03, 2005 (the code can be found on the front of the container).

This water may not meet Publix quality specifications for taste and odor. The product was distributed in Publix stores in the following counties: Broward, Miami-Dade, Indian River, Martin, Monroe, Okeechobee, St. Lucie and Palm Beach, Florida.

Alamance Foods Recalls Flavor Right (Parve) Whipped Topping

Alamance Foods, Inc. of Burlington, North Carolina is recalling 770 cases of 7 ounce cans of non dairy (Parve) topping bearing the label "Flavor Right (Parve) Whipped Topping", product code number 72205, because the product contains a dairy component and people who have allergies to dairy run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.

The recalled cans of whipped topping were distributed Nation wide.

The product comes in a metal 7 ounce aerosol can marked on the neck of the can with code number 72205 and bearing the label, "Flavor Right (Parve) Whipped Topping".

Frito-Lay Voluntarily Recalls Baked! Lay’s Original Flavor Potato Crisps Due to Undeclared Dairy

Frito-Lay announced the voluntary recall of 265 cases (60 bags per case) of 1 1/8 ounce Baked! Lay's Original flavor potato crisps distributed in Midwestern and Northeastern states. 

The voluntary recall only extends to Baked! Lay's Original flavor potato crisps distributed through foodservice channels, not traditional retail outlets such as supermarkets, convenience stores or club stores. The affected packages are limited to 1 1/8 ounce bags of Baked! Lay's Original flavor potato crisps distributed in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Maryland, Massachusetts, Connecticut, West Virginia, Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, Illinois and Indiana. Only packages with a freshness date of August 9, 2005, a nine-digit code number of 215313005 located on the front of the package and a time stamp of 23:27 through 2:29 are being voluntarily recalled.

Fieldcrest Chocolate Ice Cream Recall Announced

  Midwest Ice Cream Company announced  that it is voluntarily recalling half-gallon rectangle cartons of its Fieldcrest chocolate ice cream because it may contain an undeclared peanut allergen. No other products are involved in this voluntary recall.

Approximately 5,500 cartons of the recalled ice cream were processed at the Midwest Ice Cream Company plant in Belvidere, Illinois and distributed to retailers in portions of Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan and Wisconsin.

How to Identify the Recalled Product

Only half-gallon rectangle containers of Fieldcrest chocolate ice cream containing the following “best by date” and a time code ranging from 2200 to 0050 are involved in the recall. Consumers should look for this information on the side of the carton lid to identify the product:

The Perrigo Co. Announces Recall of Multivitamins

Name of Product: H.E.B. vitamins with iron.

Units: About 14,000 bottles

Manufacturer: The Perrigo Co. of South Carolina, of Greenville, S.C.

Hazard: The vitamins contain iron, but do not have child-resistant packaging as required by federal law, which could cause serious injury or death if ingested by a child.

Description: The recalled H.E.B. Super B-Complex vitamins with iron and 300 mg Vitamin C was sold in a container of 80 caplets. The white plastic bottle is labeled, “H.E.B. and Super B-Complex with Iron and 300 mg Vitamin C” and “Energy Metabolism” and has a blue lid.

Sold At: H.E.B. retail stores, only in Texas, from December 2003 through April 2005 for about $4.

Manufactured in: United States.

Remedy: Consumers should keep this product out of the reach of children and return it to the nearest H.E.B. retail store for a refund or replacement.

  Elegant Gourmet of Woodinville, WA is recalling the chocolate chip cookies contained in the "Camp Survival Kit" because the product does not contain any ingredient labeling for the cookies. 

The "Camp Survival Kit" containing the recalled chocolate chip cookies was distributed nationwide to retail stores.

The cookies are wrapped in a clear cello bag with no labeling. The cookies are inside a closed bright red cardboard box labeled "CAMP SURVIVAL KIT". A label on back of the box is labeled "ELEGANT SWEETS, net wt. 16 oz; Elegant Gourmet, Woodinville, WA 425-814-2500."

Each package contains four sausages and bears the code "021606." The establishment code, "EST. 5447" is printed inside the USDA mark of inspection. The sausages were packaged on June 16, 2005 and were sold through retail stores in Florida.
Problem/Reason for Recall: The product may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.
